Steffen’s Latin Salsa Big Band ‘Pacific Mambo Orchestra’ is the 2014 Grammy® Award winner for Best Tropical Latin Album. PMO has appeared nationally and internationally at world renowned Jazz Festivals like Aspen Jazz, Monterey Jazz Festival, Vancouver Music Festival, Mexico City Salsa Festival, Montreaux Jazz Festival, Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Ft Worth Music Festival, San Francisco Jazz Festival, 2013 PAC National Tour and many others.
Steffen is a Co-Executive of ‘Pacific Mambo LLC’ and ‘Pacific Mambo Records’ as well as the Founder and President of ‘Stefrecords’ and its Publishing arm ‘TrumPOP Publishing’. Steffen is a published writer and has performed with the biggest names in Latin music, R&B and Jazz, like Tommy Igoe Groove Conspiracy, The Temptations, 4 Tops, Sheila E., Jon Faddis, Luis Enrique, Tito Nieves, La India, Michael Feinstein, Birdland All Stars, Maceo Parker Big Band and others.
Steffen’s latest Contemporary Jazz album entitled ‘Leap of Faith’ contains 8 original compositions and 2 covers and was released in May of 2016. It features world-class artists like Tommy Igoe, Drew Zingg, Bob Mintzer, Tom Politzer, Wouter Kellerman, Marc Russo. Steffen’s unique and versatile writing has secured him a publishing deal with LA publisher Monica Benson’s “Wild Pink Music” company. This has resulted in numerous placements like the Jazz Ballad ‘Vivienne and Simone’s Lullaby’ on CBS’s TV series ‘The Good Wife’ (October 2015), the Smooth Jazz track “Trumpop” in the Miramax movie “Birthday Girl,” starring Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin and his original Latin Jazz composition “One for Louie” in the USA Cable Network summer blockbuster series “Burn Notice”. Furthermore, 2 of his original Latin Big Band compositions can be found on the 2014 Grammy® Award winning self-entitled album ‘Pacific Mambo Orchestra’.
